After being fired for the second time, the cymbals are repeatedly heated and hand hammered, they are then rapidly cooled by being immersed into cold water. This process enables all of the ash, soot and impurities from firing to be locked into the metal. This intense method which involves months of aging to mature the cymbals, allows Dream to produce complex and profound results. The Dark Matter Series are dense and completely un-lathed, producing an excellent stick response.
